Possible LD-Related Event

Hi all!

Flare and I have noticed that a number of people have been playing a bit of Lockdown recently. We would like to get you guys inputs on the possibility of an inhouse T3 LD event.

This would simply mean that we would move some guildies to an alt guild and play guild vs. guild with ourselves. Using this format would mean that we would be playing with our fellow guildmates only, and that we can do away with many aspects of LD that deters some from playing (skill, gear, connection, or even the expressive language in games) since we can set our own rules. In fact, we would be able to try out different ways of playing (such as a bombs-only LD game, or guns only, or no weapons!) and enjoy spending time together.

Since this will be a guild event, we would stay away from playing with other guilds (GMs can take care of that).

But in order to do so, we would have to have at least 12 people on at a time and willing to play. It would also mean having a solid form of communication, so ideally, people that have access to Mumble (or Skype, but Mumble's probably the more universal one since it's easy to set up). No worries if you don't want to talk on Mumble or don't have a mic, it would help greatly if you could even just listen =)

If for some reason you've always stayed away from T3 LD, please give this even a second thought! That purpose of this is to simply have fun and provide everyone with an environment to enjoy LD.

i'd be in, but i would have to think about it, considering that i'm busy on most weekends and weekdays i have school from 7-11 EST.
but i'll surely think about it, i don't have a mic that's not complete garbage but i have mumble and whatnot. but i'd definitely be interested in this instead of regular LD (which most of you know i largely despise).
Maybe we could also do a few BN games pre-event while we wait for others to get online? or split up into teams for BN games? the winner gets bragging rights
(also if someone could let me smack em with a snowball for the achievement it would be appreciated ^^)

Thanks for the reply Welux! Scheduling would be pretty flexible. Hopefully we can do a large enough timespan so that people can come and go.

And BN sounds like a great idea! We definitely have some pretty decent BN players in the guild and it takes much less effort to organize them as well XD

Sounds like a good idea! Especially with the growing number of new members (props to Anko) this could be an interesting guild activity everyone could participate in. BN would also make a nice variation from smackdown, and might also encourage people to try bombing so I'm all for it.:3

I could also offer the services of my now-vacated-never-really-kicked-off guild for GvG matches if no other alt guilds are available. Hope we fix some of the finer details later though..

Speaking of details, how many of our active members actually manage to peek in here to check out these plans?

i don't actually know, i know that flares been recruiting quite a few people as of late but not all of them get on teh forums, i don't exactly think all of them know we have forums as of yet.

I've already sent all the recruits with welcome letters, which includes our forum. Hopefully we'll see more people on here =)

I'll be game, I have a good chance on popping on the evening
as long as my family don't have unexpected plans.
I can get on as soon as 3pm and should be able to stick around anytime after that.

Of course Ivanhoff is not know for his love of the competitive LD scene. However Given the opportunity to communicate with the new members of aurora is an exciting opportunity given the nature I feel of this guild. I will of course be there time permitting. [If it's a Thursday or Saturday more likely that I can show.]

Of course I still think that we should have the alt guild we use for these events to be either re-named or reformed to be Borealis.

Is there an official time yet? Because i can't do this weekend. but next weekend is completely and perfectly open. I'd like to participate in a guild event for once and not be busy at the time of the event  ._.

It'll most likely be next week then since might be a bit too late to get the news out to everyone now. Make sure to save some time next Saturday then Welux =)

This sounds like a really kewl idea, and im not really into LD but this would be fun xD If its next saturday i may be fine to play but possibly not because im already meant to be doing something on saturday . I also have a Mumble but im not really sure how they work :/ Sorry if that wasnt very clear

It might be a good idea to make your LD loadouts beforehand, because the game kinda restricts you from doing that while on queue, or at the locker sometimes. Also, having at least one 4-star item in your loadout enters you in the T3 category.

"Hello support, I'm currently staring at the class modules after respawning but I can't change my loadout. Any chance that I've ended up in the other team's locker room?"

Although a bit last minute, NRI and I hosted the event despite the fact that Flare unfortunately couldn't be with us. I had a great time talking to some of the Guildies on Skype and LD, despite my lack of experience, was enjoyable.
